Your post was drawn to my attention after I ran a piece on my own blog pointing out the possibility that Earthsea in the language of Earthsea would be "Tolkien". I'm intrigued by what Ursula Le Guin herself would have made of the idea, and I regret that it didn't occur to me until after she was no longer around to answer questions. However, from your phrasing it seems just about possible that she made the point herself in the talk you describe.
